The Cowboy

Pretty much since arriving in Utah, Chiler has wanted cowboy boots and a hat so the Grandpa made a deal with him. If he filled a bucket with rocks that needed to be moved he would have his prize of boots and a hat. Here is the cowboy with Dax. It was so cute on the way home from the store Dax would look at Chiler and say, "Hey Cowboy".
Here is the cowboy on the move.

Rodeo Princess Rory

Every girl knows to accessorize before riding a sheep.
Rory first ride.

Rodeo days

Steph, the kids and I made a safe journey from Maryland to Utah. The kids did really well. We counted the states we traveled through. Here they are: Maryland, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska (forever), Wyoming and finally Utah (YEAH). I think I forgot one state. Anyway, we are here.
Xander rides the sheep.
Chiler rides while the sheep is eating.
Look at Dax ride. Hey mom, no hands.

Sentimental happy moment

So today, I was cleaning out closets when I came across a cardboard box titled, "Selina and Stef's good stuff" in my dad's handwriting. I was intrigued and curious. I opened the box it was filled with newspaper. As I unwrapped the newspaper I realized that it was my Granny's salt and pepper shaker collection. I carefully unwrapped each shaker noticing that she had put a tag on each set of where she had acquired them. Most of them were labeled with my name. I remembered traveling with her and grandpa from Indiana to Phoenix when I was young (around 9 years old) and that she started collecting salt and pepper shakers. As pondered them I could not recall when I or my daughters gifted them to her, but I believe some of them were purchased at a young age since there are pink elephants or rhinos shakers that we thought she would love and if she did not love them she never told me but she kept them of these years. My Granny was remarkable in so many ways and was nice to have a reminder of that loving relationship since she moved on from this life 6 years ago.

On a lighter note I have not figured out what the pink shakers on the left are. Any ideas let me know.

I wasn't expecting this......

I was talking on the phone and when I looked out the window, there was Yoda the sheep at the back door. Ignore the dirty window.
I was surprised to see him at the back door since he had to climb these stairs to get there. It appears that a few chickens are trying to join the parade.
Here is a picture of Yoda with Isis on the porch. It is fun to watch these two interact. Can I hear a big "AWE is that cute"

Feeding time

Last week I ordered a sour dough starter and was excited when it arrived today. I was following the "feeding" instructions and realized that at 6:00 a.m. the sour dough needs to be fed then around 7:00 a.m. the chickens, sheep and horses need feed and then there are the dogs. It made me giggle to think of a sour dough starter as one more thing to feed but it will make some great bread (yum) that I can feed myself. It has been a wonderful experience to have these animals in our life.

By the way, we are naming the sheep after Jedi characters. The little sheep I have named Yoda because he has a round face and ears that stand out on the side. Yoda is quit friendly, whenever he sees or hears me, he runs to me looks up with his teeth showing. He looks like he has a big grin on his face.

We need ideas for the other two jedi sheep. Help us name the sheep.

More new additions to the family

The is Pepper, she is not our horse she is staying with us for awhile to enjoy the pasture. Mike and Ian are saying hello.
This is Bullet and he also is a visitor. Elliott is giving him a welcome pat on the head.
So here they are the awesome trio babydoll sheep that have joined the chickens and dogs in the animal part of the family. These are full grown sheep and if you look closely they are smiling at you. I will post a close up picture.
Ian wants to catch a sheep. Which team are you on, go Ian or go sheep?
Seriously, we are excited to have these sheep as pets.
